egos must run high in this place, with all the hyperbole in these reviews! placid planet is a nice, bright, laid back shop. everyone was helpful, (even if not really eager), they had options for a sort of niche product i was looking for, and there's plenty enough variety of kit, for sure, which is nice for a change... as most shops lack any creative lycra. i didn't see any free coffee or water, and the bike rack out front couldn't hold many bikes.

Came in for a cable replacement right before Ironman Lake Placid. They took care of the work same-day despite being really busy. My bike handled flawlessly - simply spectacular work and fairly priced. I can't recommend them enough.
