Beautifully maintained property, excellent history exhibits, and lovely trails. The exhibit on black settlers in the Adirondacks was especially interesting. The timeline of John Brown's activities up to his trial and execution was also very informative. They even allowed this Kansan and long-time lover of John Brown to lay some sunflowers on his grave :D
Fun family visit. We liked the scenic hike around the property even more than the farmhouse and gravesites. My wife said the porta-potty was the cleanest she'd ever experienced.
Visited Harper's Ferry a few times in the past, which didn't do justice to John Brown's convictions and purpose, or explaining the abolitionist cause. This park fills that gap pretty nicely, and also offers very interesting exhibits on the Underground Railroad and the African American experience in the ADK region. So glad this place exists. Our elementary school aged kids enjoyed it too.
A site to see, truly remarkable how he scarificed for others freedom.
Good historical site. Very interesting to visit.
