Been coming here for years during our summer getaways. I'm a craft beer snob and I don't even look at their beer menu because the craft cocktails are so creative and delicious. Then there's the food. OMG. The Adirondacks should be so lucky to have such a quality and distinctive restaurant option! Easy 5 stars.
OMG our 5th time and again INCREDIBLE!!! If you plan to take the blue fish cake as an apitizer, don't. Take it after the entree. It is so good that it overshines the rest. Beleive me, the rest is realy good
A gem where you wouldn't expect to find one. Outstanding craft beer menu, delicious cheese and meats. Eclectic but short entree menu, but everything we tried was very well made. Will definitely be back.
Their menu of both liquids and solids is available on line, so you can get a feel for what’s on board before you head in.
I am simply blown away by any of the negative reviews on this place. Being an avid foodie, with tendencies towards more creative, I absolutely love this place and make a point of visiting whenever I am in the area. Now, if you are just looking for a fill, and want piles of food for no money, try Taco Bell or one o the dozens of crumby Chinese Buffets that abound in every city.
My most recent trip was no exception to past experiences. Without going into too much detail about each dish, I can assure you all were well prepared, inventive, and flavorful. It is also worth mentioning that the creativity also extends to the bar menu, and there are some outstanding and strong cocktails on the menu (try their #1 for an example).
The meal was excellent, as was the service and even a good majority of the diners, and we quickly started a conversation with a fellow hiker seated next to us at the bar that was disappointed that he hadn't seen the Brussels sprouts. Ironically enough, Liquids and Solids was also a regular spot for him when he is in the area.
The environment is very casual, and lighting is very dim, so regrettably, this will be one of our only listings with no actual food pics.
We started with Fried Brussels Sprouts (seriously, these are so good and a regular item on the menu), followed by Beef Carpaccio with pea puree with pickled ramps (wild garlic) sliced radish and marinated mushrooms. We then went into an incredible order of "Tater Tots", served on creamed cod with horseradish and pickled ramps (ramps are in season don't you know). Then on to an order of Smoked Bluefish cakes with a pastrami sauerkraut with Dutch buckle cheese and Russian chips.
This is our favorite place in town. Inventive cocktails, relaxed vibe, friendly wait staff. The menu is eclectic, every dish we've ordered has been delicious. The beef and bacon patty melt was amazing.
